Only 1.5 hours from San Francisco, Russian River is a chill, outdoorsy destination that makes for the perfect weekend getaway from the Bay Area. With its winding waters, towering redwoods, and vineyard-dotted hills, it's a laid-back paradise. Float down the river, soak up the sun on sandy beaches, or sip on local wines in nearby vineyards. Quaint towns like Guerneville add a funky vibe, making the Russian River a perfect escape for relaxation and good times. It is quite small, so just 2 nights for a weekend trip is the perfect amount of time!
Where to Stay:
I would recommend staying in Guerneville or Forestville.
AirBnb: I loved this Airbnb! It was so private and we enjoyed the amenities of the fireplace and hot tub.
Autocamp: This is on my bucket list to stay at! It is a bit more pricey, but a stunning property and worth the splurge.
Boho Manor: It is situated right on the river, perfect for swimming in the summer.
Boon Hotel + Spa: I didn't stay at this hotel, but I enjoyed their lovely restaurant. The food was amazing!
Things To Do:
Armstrong redwoods state park: I came here for a hike and it was gorgeous! It was also not too crowded
Wine tasting: There are tons of local wineries to try a tasting and to spend the afternoon at
Jenner beach: 30 minutes away by car to see the Sonoma coast
Johnson Beach: A great beach in town to sit at and enjoy, or rent kayaks
Healdsburg: This is a larger town nearby with great dinner options
Float from steelhead to sunset beach: In the summer it is super popular to grab some tubes and do a river float! Make sure to plan in advance with rides and flotation devices
